Overview
The Wellington Show Stables' Riding Camp is an introduction to
the world of horses and ponies. Our summer riding program
runs 8-weeks in one-week sessions for children ages 5 - 16 as
well as 3 day Pee Wee Camp ages 5 - 7 and advanced camp for all
advanced riders. The Riding Camp provides safe school horses
and ponies carefully matched to each rider. Wellington Show
Stables' Riding Camp has two full-time instructors. Our
facility includes an air-conditioned classroom for arts &
crafts, lectures, and reading.
Program At the Riding Camp your child will
spend his or her day learning about horsemanship, including
learning about feeding, grooming, proper care, riding,
tacking, and training. Additionally, the riders will
work with and assist groups of stable visitors, care and use
of tack and equipment, general veterinarian care, safety, and
working with others as a team.
We provide
instruction for riders just learning to ride as well as
teaching finer points to experienced riders. Wellington
Show Stables trains in the English style of riding, which
includes flatwork, lead changes, mounting, posting, and small
jumps (depending upon the level of the rider). Riders
will also do some trail riding.
Wellington Show
Stables will educate your child in every aspect involved with
horsemanship including the care and feeding of horses, respect
for horses and ponies (as well as gaining their respect), body,
bridle, and saddle parts, pasture and stall care, and learning
to ride. Every Riding Camp student will ride daily both
under instruction in the ring or on the trail.
We also offer tennis camp included with horse camp. Top quality
tennis instruction by a tennis pro. For more information on tennis
horse camp, call Bill at 561.632.2320.
